The Rainbow Connect Group welcomes all GLBTI people from the Grampians and Wimmera regions, advocating change and providing safe and confidential social connections.
Until recently there has been no support or social networks for the GLBTI people in our region. Rainbow Connect is changing that! We want to provide opportunities to get together socially once a month (or more) in the Horsham and Ararat/Stawell areas. And, we are also getting together every 4-6 weeks to discuss a variety of issues that we hope to advocate change for... especially in in our region. We want to significantly improve the lives of our 'alphabet' people and rainbow families! Weather you are interested in developing your social network or advocating for change... or both. We are here for you.
We are currently working on developing the next 6 mpnths social calendar of events, outings, BBQ's, camping trips etc etc. We have started a new facebook page to help keep our group connected. So if you are planning to take in a show, exhibition, grab a coffee, dinner, or frock up for a festival then click on our facebook page and let others know. http://www.facebook.com/rainbowconnected
So... if you are interested in advocating for same sex marriage rights, local schools joining the safe schools coalition, organising an annual GLBTI pride festival, rural retreats (and much more!), then stay tuned to our facebook page or the website to check our updated dates, times and locations. Bring a plate (with something on it) to share.
Our social catchup's are a work in progress. At our last rainbow connect meeting we decided to trial a new system to cut down the geographical barriers to catching up regularly. So from now on each area will meet once a month, but if you are keen to catchup again then you can go to another catchup in a different location:
Horsham Area - in the first week of the month
Ararat/Stawell Area - in the third week of the month
Venues will be uploaded as we work out where we will be kicking up our heels and what we will be kicking them doing. Bring your friends and spread the word. We know we arent the 'only gay's in the village'!
